Vintage RT: Spring Goth

This retrotransmission episode is inspired by the schizophrenic weather of early spring, when its warm and sunny one day, then cool, damp, raining, and grey the next. These are moody, weird tunes for a dark spring. Tune in live today 4-6 EST on 8ball radio to listen to tracks from Nico, Chrome, Psychic TV , Kraftwerk, Legendary Pink Dots, Clan of Xymox, Peter Murphy, Edward KaSpell, Dead Can Dance, Siouxsie, and more…

VINTAGE RT: New York NO WAVE

Well, we’ve lost another cultural taste maker. RIP, Glenn O’Brien. Among many other things, O’Brien was the original editor of Interview magazine, host of TV Party, and writer and producer of Downtown 81, which had a killer soundtrack featuring many of the bands on this retrotransmission playlist, which you can listen to live today from 4-6EST on 8ball radio.

This show is all about the New York No Wave scene. It features tracks from Lydia Lunch, Suicide, Judy Nylon, Lounge Lizards, Arto/Neto, Sonic Youth, Lizzy Mercier Descloux, James Chance and the Contortions, and Chance’s other project, James White and the Blacks, Rosa Yemen, Theoretical Girls, Mars, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, and more…

Here’s the playlist, for those of you who can’t tune in live: RT: NO WAVE.

8ball also archives all my live shows. You can check those out, here!

Well hello, strangers. This vintage retrotransmission mix, a dreamy, mellow and hypnotic one from fall 2012, is perfect for the winter solstice, which is upon us this very night. This is full of everything I like to listen to when the winter really begins to come down and we’re shrouded in sudden darkness: Death in June, Cocteau Twins, Current 93, Nico, Angels of Light, Psychic TV, Swans, Kate Bush, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Joy Division, Tear Garden, The Legendary Pink Dots, Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox, Depeche Mode, etc. Listen on repeat and hibernate until the crocus appears from the frost…
