RETROTRANSMISSION HALLOWEEN!!

Well, I just finished sewing my leather bat wings to my catsuit, so you know what that means! It’s almost TIME! On this day, anything goes, kids. Let the retrotransmission Halloween show be the soundtrack to your mischief and mayhem…but don’t do anything I wouldn’t do 😉

VINTAGE RT: DIRTY BLACK SUMMER

Today I’m posting one of my favorite retrotransmissions of all time: The Black Show. This show, from spring 2013, features rock n roll, goth, punk, and post punk bands paying homage to black. Summer goth reigns.

I just returned from a awesome 72 hour vacation in Los Angeles and I’m still feeling those weird LA vibes. Get into it with this vintage retrotransmission playlist, from winter 2013, full of LA punk bands including X, Adolescents, TSOL, Black Flag, Descendents, The Nerves, Agent Orange, Social Distortion, Circle Jerks, Germs, Fear, The Weirdos, and tons more.

Radio, Radio! New RT 6/1/15

For the second to last show EVER on rainydawg radio, I compiled punk, postpunk, rocknroll, and experimental tracks about the radio. Consider it a meta love letter to one of my favorite mediums. I’ve lived for broadcasting live on the radio and hope to get into it again when I’m back in NYC. What’s the ultimate radio tribute on this list? It’s hard to decide between the Ramones’ homage to the rocknroll radio of yore, The Modern Lovers’ ecstatic anthem about driving through your hometown blasting the car stereo, Velvet Underground’s sweet testament to music’s ability to be a life-altering savior or Joy Division’s hypnotic directive to dance, endlessly, to the radio…

This set list from several years ago, which I called “Retrotransmission for Retrotransmission” featured some of the punk and postpunk artists that inspired this radio show in the first place! Lots of the tracks on here were included on my original try-out set list that I presented to rainydawg radio. They told me my inclusion of Guided By Voices’ “Hot Freaks” sealed the deal.
